The Church of the Threefold Path ¶
The Church of the Threefold Path is the primary religious institution within the city of Aru’Mas, dedicated to the worship and teachings of three divine figures: Vesira, the Mother of Mercy, Orenn, the Weaver of Fate, and Alor, the Sentinel of the People. Each deity embodies a distinct aspect of life—compassion, wisdom, and protection—forming the pillars upon which the Church is built. The Church functions not only as a place of worship but as a guiding institution for the people of Aru’Mas, providing spiritual support, education, healing, and defense.
The Church is divided into three distinct Orders, each serving its deity’s principles and mission. These Orders work together to guide, protect, and nurture the city, helping to ensure harmony within Aru’Mas. Each Order has its own hierarchy, roles, and responsibilities, but they share a unified goal: to preserve the city’s spirit, uphold justice, and foster the well-being of its people.
Structure and Role of the Church ¶
The Church of the Threefold Path is organized to ensure that each Order can perform its duties effectively, while also supporting the overarching mission of the Church.
The High Priest — Arbiter of the Threefold Path ¶
At the apex of the Church’s hierarchy sits the High Priest (or High Priestess), who holds the title of Arbiter. The Arbiter is not aligned to any single Order but serves as the direct voice of the consensus of all three deities — Vesira, Orenn, and Alor — speaking as one unified divine will. Where the three Order heads each champion their own deity’s domain, the Arbiter mediates between them, ensures doctrinal unity, and speaks on behalf of the Church as a whole before the Council of Aru’Mas and in matters of spiritual governance.
The current Arbiter is High Priest Alabaster Sayn, who rose to the position after leading the Restoration of the Heartspire — a ritual that renewed the city’s central spiritual wards and reaffirmed the Old Pacts. His predecessor, High Priestess Elendra Vale, held the role before him.
The Three Order Leaders ¶
Below the Arbiter, the leaders of each Order — the High Hierophant (Order of Harmony), the High Oracle (Order of Wisdom), and the High Warden (Order of Valor) — represent the Church on the Council of Aru’Mas, helping to shape the city’s policies and guiding its citizens through both spiritual and practical challenges. They report to and are guided by the Arbiter.
